Seven licensed New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologists and two highly skilled and personable phlebotomists staff the Laboratory. The department is operational 24 hours per day during the week so that there is no waiting time for patients on the Inpatient Unit or coming to the Emergency Room.

Did you know? Over 94% of 70,000 laboratory tests performed annually are done in house at Elizabethtown Community Hospital. That means a quick turn around time for test results to your physician. "We try to make our services convenient for our patients. There is typically very little waiting time to have Lab work done. Seasonal residents will also use the ECH Laboratory for any routine Lab testing they may need, and we fax the results directly to their physician," said Pat Thaxton, Laboratory Manager.

PHYSICAL THERAPY & SPORTS REHABILITATION
Rehabilitation services are offered on both an in and outpatient basis. Each patient receives a comprehensive care plan developed to meet his or her individual needs. Together, our therapists have over 100 years combined experience.
Inpatient Therapy

The primary goal of inpatient rehabilitative therapy is to provide treatment so patients can regain their independence and improve their activities of daily living to make a safe transition home. To accomplish this goal a comprehensive evaluation is performed by a licensed physical or occupational therapist and encompasses the following:

  • Pertinent past medical history
  • Joint Range of motion
  • Muscle Strength
  • Coordination
  • Sensation
  • Balance
  • Posture
  • Gait
  • Patient Safety

Based on the above information your therapist will design an individual treatment program to address your functional needs. ECH provides physical, occupational, recreational and speech therapy to treat a patient. Conditions staff may address include:

  • A total hip or knee replacement
  • Post-surgical conditions
  • Stroke
  • Debilitating states associated with acute illness
  • Post trauma/traumatic injury
